Concept design and art direction
Designing the ad concept and identity for a modern take on Amadeus
Client: Turku City Theatre
Project: Amadeus
Year: 2022
Key art and advertising art direction for a Finnish staging of Peter Shaffer's play, Amadeus. The project included concept design, art direction and scripting and editing of a short teaser. The campaign ran locally and nationally in Finland.
Amadeus is the story of Salieri, a respected composer in Vienna who becomes obsessed with his rival, Mozart. Salieri is simultaneously awed and enfuriated by the young virtuoso and sets out on a destructive and vindictive path to get rid of him.

Mediocrity can be a curse. Mozart's talent is so unreachable it's enraging.
We’ve all felt dwarfed by the talent of someone else. Envy is a relatable feeling. We tapped into this in the campaign, focusing on the virtuosity of Mozart, an enfant terrible who defies all rules – including gravity. Salieri is literally hit in the face with the talent of Mozart and becomes bitter when realizing his own mediocrity. This makes Salieri hell bent on destroying Mozart.
